This spring, we celebrated the inauguration of Casa VITALI — a unique space for artistic creation centered around the values of peace and human rights, established by International Partnership for Human Rights (IPHR) in the village of Sambuca di Sicilia, Italy.
IPHR Director, Brigitte Dufour, named the house, which was acquired through the 1 Euro House initiative, in honour of our Georgian colleague Vitali Safarov, whose life was tragically and senselessly cut short when he was stabbed to death in 2018, at the age of just 25.
Vitali dedicated his life to promoting tolerance, and we are proud to carry his mission forward through this initiative.
In this video, we share Vitali’s story and pay tribute to his bright spirit and his positive and lasting impact on others. As Vitali’s mother, Marina, wisely said:
“If we give warmth to people, they will remember us. And to be remembered is to live on.”
Our heartfelt thanks go to the people of the village of Sambuca for welcoming us and offering a space where we can plant the seeds of our new project.
We would also like to express our deep gratitude to everyone involved in the creation of this video:
